Mike Ferguson is a father and a businessman. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Charter Oak State College. Mike is a father of two. The Fergusons are members of Open Door Bible Church in Belton and have lived in the Belton/Grandview for almost ten years. Mike lived in Warrensburg and Columbia before that.

Professionally, Mike is the Human Resources Manager for a technical staffing company in Kansas City. He is responsible for both the recruiting of employees as well as for the day to day management of employee benefits. As part of his role at the small business, Mike is also involved in the contract management of both commercial and government accounts.

Mike works with a variety of organizations, including nonprofit groups like the Employment Assistance Resource Network* and the Women’s Employment Network* to help them prepare people for employment. This allows him the opportunity to work directly with those who are impacted the most by Missouri’s job losses and gains; those who are entering the workforce for the first time, those who are returning to the workforce, those who struggling after being laid off as a result of downsizing and those who are making the transition from welfare to self sufficiency.

Mike also works with small colleges in Kansas City, Jefferson City and St. Louis. The schools rely on Mike’s expertise in the areas of employment and career planning to help their students get ready for Missouri’s job market. Mike is regularly invited to address classes as a guest speaker and also helps students develop their resume writing and interviewing skills. He also serves on the Advisory Board for The Brown-Mackie College** (in the Kansas City area) where he helps the Business Department evaluate both current and proposed curriculum.

Mike’s previous experience includes work as a financial advisor, as a small business manager in the retail industry and as a journalist. His media experience includes work in television, newspaper and radio news.

Politically, Mike has experience working at the statewide level. He was appointed by Secretary of State Matt Blunt to the Missouri State Plan Committee in early 2003. Mike worked with representatives of political parties, special interest groups and government organizations on the Committee to develop Missouri’s plan for improving the election process, providing adequate voting access to the physically challenged and for improving voter turnout. The Missouri State Plan was created by the federal Help America Vote Act of 2002.

Now, Mike Ferguson hopes to use his unique blend of personal, professional and political experience to help Missouri become the economic center of America. He understands the need for a strong economy and job market from both the perspectives of business and those in the workforce. With your help, Mike will bring his experience and his passion for efficient government, effective leadership and real solutions to the office of Missouri Lieutenant Governor.
